Albania: A national employment program 'Employment 2021' soon

Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama: “it is a detailed sector program that addresses employment and has objectives, figures, and instruments for achieving the objectives” | TEDx Thessaloniki

The Albanian government plans to launch a new national employment program "Employment 2021" soon, in order to address key challenges.

According to sources, the socialist parliamentary grouped with a team of deputies and experts for collecting entrepreneurial opinions in each district. This step was made in order to write down the draft the National Program "Employment 2021"

Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama highlighted the objectives that are to be achieved with this program for employment. He also focused on the results that have been achieved so far in terms of encouraging employment as well as the challenges that come forward in this direction.

Rama accentuated that the new National Employment Program 2021 is not a strategy in the sense of a purely written document or a desirable plan. Instead, he explained, “it is a detailed sector program that addresses employment and has objectives, figures, and instruments for achieving the objectives”.

Sources further reported that during his visit to the industrial vocational school in Vlora, PM Rama highlighted the construction project for the Vlora airport that starts this year.

“The ministry is in the phase of negotiating a contract with significant value investment that immediately creates investment opportunities, either as a result of private chain investments that will bring many opportunities. But are we able to respond with professional capacity, or will we receive Turkish welder, as has the builder who is building the new National Stadium, because there are not enough Albanian welder?” the Prime Minister said.

Also commenting on the Vlora airport, the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Damian Gjiknuri stated during a meeting that the construction of the Vlora airport by becoming an entry gate for tourism will increase the industrial interest throughout the area. It will also be attracting investments that will bring economic development.

According to Rama, there are a lot of infrastructure projects that are coming in the near future and all these opportunities are actually a challenge. The challenge, he said, is to be ready for all the open jobs.
